Due to weekend crowds and nice weather, our guide couldn’t find parking at the planned trailhead, and there didn’t seem to be a backup plan in place. In the end we switched to a different trail aiming for a lake, but never reached it. After about an hour walking in the forest, we stopped for lunch and then returned to the car. With over two hours left, the guide drove us to a lake by the highway and bought drinks—perhaps as a consolation. While friendly, the guide gave little commentary. Although he seemed knowledgeable, he only offered information when directly asked, and…”
